Design Tip: How to Add Spring to your Home
Today’s Design Tip is how to add spring to your home! It’s April! How did that happen? Spring is here and it’s time to lighten things up in our home. So, how can you add Spring into your home?
I like to change out the cushions on my bed. In winter I like darker colours but come spring and I just want to lighten it all up. I’ve got larger light blue silk cushions on my bed and smaller pink ones. I also keep the bedding white which really helps keep the mood light.
Another way is to use flowers. Tulips or daffodils grouped together are an inexpensive way to lighten up your space. They are in abundance this time of year so take advantage of them and bring them indoors. Also branches of forsythia or cherry blossoms in a larger vessel will add a spring element.

Think of the vessel the flowers are in. Maybe put away the heavier pottery vases until Fall and use a glass or lighter vessel. It will add to the lighter mood in your house as well. Or group glass jars together for a collected look.
A big item you could change is your area carpet. Changing out a heavy oriental rug for a light sisal or jute rug will make a world of difference in your over all décor.
Try adding some beach glass as a vase or as a stand alone collection. These vases are from West Elm.
Or try filling a vase or vessel with sea shells.
and finally change out your tea towels to a nice soft linen in spring colours. These would be sure to add a lighter note to anyone’s kitchen.
