Lauren Morris, our Creative Therapist

Art plays a huge part in design– it inspires and complements what we do as interior designers. From paintings, to sculptures, to photographs done by family members and professional artists, we love working with art in our client’s homes (such a great way to add a personal touch!).

Over the past few weeks we have been lucky to work with Lauren Morris, a local Vancouver painter, to host painting workshops at our studio in Mackenzie Heights. We first worked with Lauren during our very first LOCAL Pop Up Shop where we sold out of her art! We were lucky to snag a piece for our studio afterwards… It has been fantastic to feed off of her creative energy in our studio as she leads us through evenings of painting and colour exploration during our Creative Therapy nights.  We admit, we have zero artistic training and felt a bit apprehensive diving into the paints and brushes with a pro… but pushing those doubts to the side, we gained fantastic insight into Lauren’s artistic process and our own!

A few samples of our work from our previous Creative Therapy sessions with Lauren Morris.

Florals, radishes, and a bit of bubbly inspired our Creative Therapy session!

We were lucky to use Lauren’s paintings for our inspiration during these sessions. For those of you who aren’t familiar with her work, Lauren Morris creates gorgeous, bold abstract paintings that explore colour and our natural world.  She divides her studies between abstracts, flowers, and fruits. For our next  ‘therapy session’ we will be focusing on abstract landscapes and we cannot wait to see what we will create! Check out some of her works below…

Lauren Morris’ Abstracts: (from left to right) Earth, Warmth, and Blue Sky.

Lauren Morris’ Florals: (from left to right) Orange Tulips, A Trio in Bloom, and Tapestry.

About our Creative Therapy Workshops: Our “therapy” nights are a fun, casual atmosphere where you can learn something new under the guidance of our facilitators at our Mackenzie Heights studio. We have covered activities from painting original works to making customized wrap-bracelets.  For our upcoming evenings with Lauren Morris, you will practice painting techniques and explore colour with paint.

For our next installation of Creative Therapy with Lauren Morris we will be focusing on abstract landscapes and expression through colour. You will be provided with a blank canvas, paints, one-on-one instruction, as well as some refreshments for the evening. Grab a friend and join us! We are hosting classes on October 16 + 30 (with a special rate if you sign up for both dates for double the Therapy)! All supplies are included. Class size is limited to 10 to keep things cozy.
