Mother’s Day Flowers Always a Beautiful Gift to Receive
Today I went over to have a visit with Hilary Miles and her amazingly talented staff. The store was a buzz with customers and many different projects on the go. With Mother’s Day just around the corner we wanted to see just what is inspiring the floral world. I must say I learned a lot in my visit and now hope to have some of these beautiful blooms in my home soon!
Peonies have always been my absolute favourite flower. They just speak to me with their glorious colours and luscious petals. They are delicate and sweet yet unapologetically showy. There were a few different peonies in the shop today. One was a Coral Charm Peony. This peony looks like parchment paper when it is in full bloom!
Peonies have a short blooming season, they are a late spring early summer flower so enjoy them in their glory RIGHT NOW!
Here is another peony if you like a dark red version. This is called Red Charm Peony. Hilary Miles has a beautiful display of these in her shop as well.
Or, there is always white.
Imagine receiving a bouquet of these!
Another big showy flower is the Free Spirit Rose. This one is spectacular!! I am not an orange fan but honestly, these were out of this world beautiful!! They look almost like crepe paper roses-they are just SO big and very luxurious!!

Next up is Yellow Hyacinth. These are not very common and are very beautiful in yellow. I recommend trying these out as a bouquet-a little different but, oh so beautiful!
There are a lot of incredibly beautiful and different variations of old favourites but there are also some gorgeous tulips which can work very very well for a lower budget but be just as beautiful. Just look how many tulips are just wating to be made into arrangements!!
It is very hard to pick a favourite in Hilary’s shop. Everywhere you turn is pure beauty from a small vessel with one type of bloom …
to the most luscious and luxurious of arrangements…
But for today (because after all, a woman is allowed to change her mind I’ve heard) I am choosing this outrageously, outstanding Butterfly Hydrangea! It is double blossom and just commands the room. Oh, and it’s pink to boot which will almost always get my vote!
Hilary Miles also has a display up in Oakridge Centre from May 4-8 for the Fleurs De Ville Event, which is an event where a dozen florists have decorated a mannequin with fresh flowers. It is well worth a visit to Oakridge just to see this event!!
