About this project

This is not the first renovation this home has seen. Originally built in the 1940's it was first remodeled in the 1980's creating a usable, more modern floor-plan. The owners wanted to embrace the mix of traditional and modern elements as well as update it for the 21st century. Some traditional elements that remained included hardwood flooring, leaded windows, and the sliding doors to the dining room. Updates we made included opening up many of the exterior windows to maximize the natural light, rejuvenating outdoor living spaces, and opening the dining to the kitchen for a more modern entertaining space.For this project we focused on using sustainable materials and working within the original roof-line. Finishing touches were plentiful! Years of collecting furniture, art, and objects made it easy to reflect the personality and taste of the owners. Not afraid of colour, we embraced a varied palette of textiles, patterns, and hues to complement the architecture of the home as well as those living in it.
