September Musings and Updates
I can’t believe September is here in full force already. Where did summer go? I know we had a busy summer and had lots of fun in the sun but wow, did September ever sneak up on us!
Designers Collective has had a pretty packed few months and we have some exciting news to share with you. First of all, we moved offices. We are so excited to have our little studio in The Armoury Design District. We have barely started decorating it but we are full of ideas of how to make this studio our own.
It has lots of light and will be a great space to host our workshops and creative evenings. (see here for details on these!). We are loving being around other creative minds in close by offices and all the light in the space is making for a great backdrop for our photo shoots. We so look forward to sharing our ideas with you from our new space.
We also have introduced a whole new line up of workshops, which we are thrilled about. We can’t wait to discuss the nitty gritty of design with fellow design enthusiasts as we explore everything from your personal design style to building materials to fabrics to styling. We are also introducing creative crafting evenings (aka bitch ’n bead). We want our “people” to have a place to come and be creative. Just come and hang out in our studio and do something creative for an evening.

We are starting to organize our 2015 Design Crawls and are excited to be working on a Pasadena Design Crawl in November where we will take a group down to see the Craftsman Bungalows and gardens.

The other big thing we did this summer was a collaboration contest. We were asked by Alt Summit if we would like to participate in collaborating with another blogger to come up with a collaboration idea and post about it. We were teamed up with blogger Mandi, of Chewsy Lovers, from Fort Lauderdale Florida. Mandi is a professional chef and writes about family, recipes etc. We had a great time coming up with the idea of the “Happy Kitchen Project”. 
We took alternate days blogging about kitchen design, DIYs and recipes. The idea was to get our readers to love their kitchen again by making it the happiest room in their house. We had loads of fun coming up with all our “happy” blog posts and in the end we were thrilled to WIN the contest. A great day for Designers Collective and Chewsy Lovers! Read more here.
On a personal note Tina and I also had a big summer. I had my big 5-0 birthday! (Ugh, When did that happen??) I celebrated with a big party and am now settling in to life in my fifties.
And Tina has sent her youngest off to University.
She has spent the last 10 days getting her youngest son settled at Queen’s University. It is hard when the last one leaves the nest!
Who knows what Tina will get into now?!
So, the times they are a changin’! We are looking forward to this next chapter as we move forward with our families and our lives and we are certainly excited about all the progress of Designers Collective.
