Show and Tell: LA

Do you remember show-and-tell from elementary school? Every once in a while classmates would share something that they loved or thought was really really really cool… we thought we’d carry on the tradition. This June, we’ll be hosting a show-and-tell of our own, in Los Angeles!

When it comes to design, architecture, and lifestyle there are hundreds (if not, thousands) of blogs/magazines/influencers/brands that we design-lovers browse/bookmark/shop/follow. The immediacy and accessibility of print and digital media make exploring design around the world an easy task from the comfort of home. However, if we’re being honest, nothing beats seeing the real thing. Instead of scrolling through a carefully-curated feed why not walk through designer homes, browse eclectic markets, explore iconic architecture, and take your own instagram-worthy snapshots? We want to show you our favourite and most inspiring spots in LA as well as give you access to incredible experiences.

“If we’re being honest, nothing beats seeing the real thing.”

We’re so excited that we decided to share three of our most anticipated features of this tour…. and lucky you we still have a few spaces available in our June 22-25 trip! So get into explorer mode and pack your (very stylish and practical) bags! A more in-depth description of our tour can be found here.

1. Home Tours

Being from Vancouver, we know the Pacific Coast is an incredible landscape to work with– so how can we go to LA without touring some of the amazing homes? Included in our trip is a tour of homes ranging in style from Mission Revival to Westcoast Modern. Not only will you receive a first-hand experience of Dwell Magazine-worthy homes, but we (Tina and Brooke) will be there with you to guide you through the homes and provide professional anecdotes and insight into the spaces. *Stylish shoe covers are included

A throwback to our 2015 trip– our home tour squad is looking good!

2. Melrose Trading Post

The thrill of a good, unique find is hard to beat. We fell in love with all the eclectic markets of LA on our last trip in 2015, so we had to include one this time around! One of our favourite spots is the Melrose Trading Post. From typewriters to T-Shirts, if you’re looking for that one-of-a-kind element for your home, you can find it at Melrose. *High-fives for good finds free with tour

Take your pick! Skeleton keys found at Melrose

3. Broad Museum

An architectural marvel that houses an incredible art collection– it’s really a perfect pairing! We organize a tour of the museum which gives you access to the incredible collection of works featuring titans of Post-War American art as well as Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirror Room. Perfect for a dose of history, culture, and envy-inducing photo ops. *Warning: Ensure you have lots of photo storage

3½ . Otium

Okay… one more thing! In addition to the fantastic sites and sounds of the city, we’re also excited for the flavours. LA is home to some world-class restaurants and we would be silly not to share a couple of our favourites. One eatery that caught our attention is Otium, right next to the Broad Museum. Chef Timothy Hollingsworth creates a beautiful menu that we cannot wait to try! *Bonus points awarded for sharing tastes!

When is happy hour? Otium’s instagram feed is working up our appetite

LA is calling and we’re ready to answer. Grab a friend and join us for 4 days and 3 nights of design show-and-tell (plus a few fun excursions). We can’t wait to share our favourite spots of LA! Registration for this tour closes  on May 18, 2017 and is first-come-first-serve!
