West Elm & Designers Collective: Design Styles Workshop Recap
On Monday, Designers Collective put on a Design Styles workshop at West Elm.
We had a sold out class of fully engaged women who were anxious to hear about how to spot the different design styles in interior design.
We gave each participant a little take away which included a notebook and pen which seemed ideal as there were lots of note takers in the class!
Tina and I each took turns reviewing the different tell-tale markers of the four different design styles we put together. Our strategy is to give our workshop participants the tools and language of design so that they understand the different styles and will be able to choose items for their homes with more confidence.
After we reviewed images and fabrics of the different styles, we did a tour of the store and had discussions about the furniture pieces and accessories in the store. We were able to point out different design elements using the hands on approach which everyone seems to enjoy. It took the classroom teaching into real life.
We then had a little fun quiz about the different styles which opened up the discussion on why one item or piece of furniture, was a particular style or not.
Part of the take away was a 20% discount card from West Elm. All the participants seemed quite happy to get this!
All in all, it was a great success and we look forward to doing our second class on Monday the 23rd. We still have a few spots left so come and join us!
